About David C. Harkins, DO, FAOAO

David C. Harkins, DO, FAOAO, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon.  He is fellowship-trained in shoulder and elbow surgery, and he specializes in shoulder, upper extremity, and reconstructive surgery as well as fracture and degenerative care.  

Dr. Harkins completed his orthopedic residency at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in 2004.  Des Peres Hospital has been recognized as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Bariatrics, Orthopedics and Patient Safety by the national Women’s Choice Award program.  In 2005, Dr. Harkins completed his fellowship at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic/ Baylor University Hospital.  

He currently serves on the Continuing Medical Education Planning Committee for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) and served as President/AOAO Shoulder and Elbow Section during 2017-2018.

Dr. Harkins and his wife, Jill, have four children. In his free time, he attempts to keep up with all four of his children’s activities and sports. Dr. Harkins and his family attend First Baptist of Monroe where he and his wife teach the Young Marrieds’ class as well as support JH Outback, a Christian retreat/camp
